Our Story

St. Mark Lutheran Church was Chartered on November 1, 1964. There were twenty-two members signing the constitution-by-laws. In its inception, the services were held in a home, Baum-Carlock-Bumgardner Funeral Home, the old post office building on N. Oak and the abandoned convention hall. 

In April of 1967, land was approved and purchased at 1120 S.E. 25th Ave. (It is still at the same location with a different addredd number of 1201. Ground breaking service was held on June 23, 1968, and Phase 1 contstruction was underway.

The cornerstone of the church was laid February 23, 1969, and the dedication of the church was held April 20, 1969.

Many people have been instrumental in bringing St. Mark to the place she is today. Many people will be instrumental in taking her forward.
